ABOUT ME
There I am, holding my poster at the Hillary Rally in Covington, KY in May 2008
"I am a 35yrs old, African American male, campaign volunteer, and artist from Covington, Kentucky who created the
“Perseverance” image. I voted for Bill Clinton in both his election in 1992 and his re-election in 1996 and
recently I voted in my first democratic primary, since they rarely mean anything that time of year in Kentucky.
I first joined Hillary's campaign in Cincinnati, Ohio where I canvassed, made signs, and attended events. I was
inspired to create this image of Hillary with the word “Perseverance” after her win in Ohio. I also started raising
money for her campaign with the “Perseverance” poster and other artwork with my previous website: www.hillarygfx08.com.
I’ve done volunteering work for Freedom Corps, earning a silver President’s Volunteer Service Award this past
spring and I am considering a program in AmeriCorp next year. I guess you can say my main issues in this election
are; paying off my student loans, having affordable health care, and having a prospered enough economy where I can
make a living as an artist.
My step father is Rep. Arnold Simpson (D) Arnold's campaign .
He is the first African American to hold the 65th District House seat in the Kentucky State House of Representatives.
Many of the people who helped his campaign over the years became a large part of HIllary's staff in Covington,
including myself. My Biological father is Steven "Tuck" Walters, a pioneering funk Musician from Cincinnati. He still
makes music and has recently reunited his old band Pure Essence. My mother is a Human Resources Director at the City of Covington.
I strongly feel that Bill’s administration was one of the most successful administrations in our country's history,
however I also believe that HIllary's administration could have been the very best we’ve ever had. The reason I
believe this is because over the years, as I followed Hillary's career, I’ve watched her continue to improve as a
public leader despite the many public and private adversities that I think would immobilize most people.
Campaigns seem to age candidates years in a matter of months and despite some of the harshest and most derogatory
of attacks I have ever seen, Hillary seems to grow more graceful and beautiful with age. In addition to her
endurance I also believe she has the best ideas for the future of our country.
There are obvious differences between men and women but human beings did not get to the top of the food chain on
this earth because of our ability to physically dominate the other competing species. It was because of our
intelligence, and compassion to cooperate with one another for common prosperity. In these terms, all of us and
especially women are equal.about my art.
ABOUT MY ART
I used a vector based painting technique that combines a high power computer, digital
/ analogue photography, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and lots and lots of time.
I do believe that computer graphic images can reach the level of fine art because computers and printers are just as much tool as pigments and canvasses. I will continue to explore this medium and push my creative boundaries as far as these tools will allow me to go.
Please feel free to contact me as I am available for commission work.
